World-Renowned Organist Roger Sayer Brings Iconic Interstellar Film Score to Haddonfield UMC for Mi Wha Lee Memorial Organ Recital

HADDONFIELD, NJ — Haddonfield United Methodist Church will host an extraordinary evening of music on Friday, October 16, at 7:00 PM, welcoming internationally acclaimed British organist Roger Sayer for the annual Mi Wha Lee Memorial Organ Recital. The performance will take place in the church Sanctuary (29 Warwick Rd, Haddonfield) and will also stream live online at haddonfieldumc.org.
Sayer is best known worldwide as the original organ soloist for Hans Zimmer’s iconic, Oscar-nominated soundtrack to Christopher Nolan’s blockbuster sci-fi film Interstellar. As part of his global Interstellar 10 tour, celebrating a decade of the film’s legendary score, Sayer will perform his own virtuosic solo organ arrangement of the soundtrack alongside major classical masterworks on Haddonfield UMC’s pipe organ.
According to Sayer’s official artist biography, his career includes early training as an organ student at St. Paul’s Cathedral, prize-winning honors at the St. Albans International Organ Competition, and years of service as Director of Music at London’s historic Temple Church. It was at Temple Church that composer Hans Zimmer and director Christopher Nolan personally collaborated with Sayer to capture the instrument’s unique, otherworldly power for the movie’s score.
Speaking on Sayer’s contribution to the film, composer Hans Zimmer praised the organist’s extraordinary musicianship:
